About Me

I love food and I absolutely love what I do. There is nothing more rewarding for me to help someone improve their life and medical condition by helping them achieve their dietary and lifestyle goals whilst continuing to eat the food they like and enjoy – the easier and simpler the changes, the better!

I graduated from the University of Natal, South Africa in 2000, after successfully completing a three year Bachelor of Science in Dietetics degree and a one year Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics..

Once qualified, I moved overseas and over a period of 10 years I worked within the NHS (National Health Service) in the United Kingdom as a hospital and community dietitian; as a private chalet girl in Verbier, Switzerland cooking for up to 20 guests from different countries and cultures; and in Marbella, Spain, in my private practice working alongside a general surgeon and bariatric surgeon.   I returned to South Africa in 2010 and have been practicing at the Netcare Waterfall City Hospital, Waterfall Estate, Kyalami, Midrand as a specialist Bariatric Dietitian, in the Bariatric Center of Excellence, alongside Prof Tessa van der Merwe and Dr Gary Fetter.

Being sporty myself, I’ve always had a special interest in Sports Nutrition, and have kept up-to-date with the latest research.  Over the past few years, I have found myself counselling clients more and more in sports nutrition. For this reason I decided to take it further and have completed a comprehensive course in Sports Nutrition and Sports Supplements as well as doing a Certificate in Exercise Science.  I am a triathlete and mountain biker and frequently compete in various triathlons such as Iron Man and mountain bike stage races.  My love of endurance sports together with my clinical background, I am able to get the best out of my clients sports performance, taking their medical history into account.  My sports nutrition practice is based at Wanderers Sports Medical Center (WSMC), Wanderers Cricket Stadium, Illovo.

I have a passion for travelling – tasting local cuisine and meeting people from different cultures and religions, which inevitably helps me in my every day work in understanding my clients and helping them make appropriate lifestyle and food choices according to their individual needs.

I am committed to continued professional development (CPD) and have attended, and continue to attend various courses and study days in my chosen specialties, to ensure my knowledge and practice is based on current scientific evidence.
